The outdoor prefabricated substation is an integrated, complete set of equipment, typically comprising four main components: a high-voltage switchgear, a low-voltage distribution panel, a distribution transformer, and an enclosure.

Serving as the protective housing, the enclosure's structural design-specifically the effectiveness of its rain-proofing features-directly impacts the service life of the compact substation. A novel design concept for the enclosure's rain-proofing structure focuses on preventing rainwater ingress through door seams and the gaps within the base frame, thereby ensuring reliable protection against precipitation.

Regarding thermal management, a directional heat dissipation design is employed; this involves guiding airflow-via air inlets, exhaust grilles, and air-ducting structures-to lower temperatures in localized "hot spots" and minimize dust accumulation on the surfaces of electrical components .

To address harsh environmental conditions, a multi-layer filtration and barrier system is implemented to provide protection against wind-blown sand and salt-mist corrosion, thereby enhancing operational reliability and extending the equipment's service life.

In terms of internal layout, an expandable design approach is adopted to reduce the density of electrical components. This arrangement minimizes mutual interference between components and allocates more ample space for critical system elements.

Common materials used for the enclosure shell include stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cold-rolled steel, and color-coated steel sheets. Furthermore, a double-layer (composite panel) structure is frequently utilized to facilitate thermal insulation, heat dissipation, ventilation, and to ensure a high level of overall protection.
