Classification by Voltage Level
Based on voltage levels, equipment rated at AC 1000V and below is typically classified as Low-Voltage Switchgear (e.g., PGL, GGD, GCK, GBD, MNS, etc.), while equipment rated above AC 1000V is classified as High-Voltage Switchgear (e.g., GG-1A, XGN15, KYN48, etc.). Occasionally, high-voltage units specifically rated at AC 10kV are referred to as Medium-Voltage Switchgear (e.g., the XGN15-type 10kV Ring Main Unit).

Classification by Voltage Waveform
Divided into: AC Switchgear and DC Switchgear.

Classification by Internal Structure
Withdrawable Switchgear (e.g., GCS, GCK, MNS, etc.) and Fixed Switchgear (e.g., GGD, etc.).

Classification by Application
Incoming Feeder Cabinets, Outgoing Feeder Cabinets, Metering Cabinets, Compensation Cabinets (Capacitor Cabinets), Corner Cabinets, and Busbar Cabinets.
